RANDI'S FITNESS FOR KIDS is owned and operated by Randi S. Drasin. Randi has over 35 years in the business of fitness. She herself was a recreational gymnast as a young girl and started weight training in 1986 after graduating from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications. She then became a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer in 1989. She married Ric "The Equalizer" Drasin in 1989 and they have a 18 year old daughter, Sami, who is attending Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Majoring in Photography. RANDI'S FITNESS FOR KIDS was created as a result of Sami being brought into this world. Randi wanted to create a career that would include Sami on a day to day basis. Day care was not an option as this is not the way to raise a child. When Sami turned 5, children were not allowed in the gym at which she was training her clients, so she tried home training for a while, but some clients wanted more than that. So the next best thing was to combine her gymnastics skills as well as her fitness skills and put them to good use. She began teaching gymnastics classes for a company that sent instructors out to pre-schools. It worked for a year, but Randi felt she cold do this on her own without working for someone else. Thus the creation of Randi's Fitness for kids! RANDI'S FITNESS FOR KIDS is now located in 10 schools, running 50 classes a week and employs 18 instructors. Throughout Sami's school years, Randi volunteered to run the After School Enrichment program at Kester Magnet in Sherman Oaks while Sami attended school there. She then became the President of the Parent Association at the school. She became PTA President at Millikan Middle School while Sami attended. And even started her After School Program there as well and is still going strong since 2002. Randi makes a point of joining all the PTA's at the schools in which she runs her after school programs. She donates a portion of the procedes from the After School Classes to all the schools PTA's, Booster Clubs or parent orgranizations. Randi currently teaches PE to Kindergardners at the Neighborhood School in North Hollywood. She has been the Coach there since 1997. She has also been the director of Gymnastics, Dance and Cheerleading Specialty Training Camps for Sports Plus Day Camp in Sherman Oaks since 1998. Randi decided to further her career and education by going back to school in 2007 to earn a BS degree in Dietetics, which she completed in August of 2009. She was then accepted in the Masters Program at CSUN where she is currently working on an MS Degree in Dietetics and Food Science. This year she will complete a dietetic internship, which will allow her to sit for the California State Board Exam to become a Registered Dietitian. Her goal is to have a private practice for children, teens and young adults with eating disorders, obesity problems, diabetes and body image issues. She would also like to become involved in Community Nutrition programs for children and the elderly as well as become a Certified Diabetes Educator.
